Installs freezes and won't load Kernel Debugger DLL

I am trying to do a native reinstall of XP but the computer freezes while
attempting to load Kernel Debugger Dll files.
I have tried several methods to overcome this failure. Does anyone have any
solutions or possible causes for this to happen. It stalls at the same place
from the CD or by copying the necessary files to the harddrive and performing
the installation.
Thanks

Re: Installs freezes and won't load Kernel Debugger DLL

I wonder any of these apply.
----------------------------

This error can be caused by defective memory, a malfunctioning HD, an
improperly configured disk controller or cable, corrupted data, or a virus
infection when an attempt was made to read kernel data from virtual memory
and failed to find the data at the memory address.

OR

This error may be due to an incompatible disk or controller drivers or
hardware problems.
Run the windows XP check disk utility or use a more comprehensive disk
utility obtained from the disk manufacturer.

OR

The Stop 0xC000021A message occurs when Windows XP Professional switches
into kernel mode and a user-mode subsystem, such as Winlogon or the Client
Server Runtime Subsystem (CSRSS), is compromised and security can no longer
be guaranteed. Because Windows XP Professional cannot run without Winlogon
or CSRSS, this is one of the few situations where the failure of a user-mode
service can cause the system to stop responding. You cannot use the kernel
debugger in this situation because the error occurred in a user-mode
process. A Stop 0xC000021A message can also occur when the computer is
restarted after a system administrator has modified permissions in such a
way that the SYSTEM account no longer has adequate permissions to access
system files and folders.

Michael
Thanks for the reply. I am thinking the HD is bad but using Scandisk it
comes back without any errors. Guess I will just have to bite the bullet and
see about installing a new HD.
Again thanks for your help

Sorry to hear that.

I wonder if running chkdsk would help.

Boot from your XP Installation CD and then press a key to boot from CD (when
prompted).

Select the 2nd option by pressing 'R' at the first screen.

Select the number for the appropriate folder on you hard drive, Typically
you press "1" for C:\WINDOWS.

When prompted for a password press enter (for a blank p/w) should work.

When C:\WINDOWS is displayed type the following:

chkdsk /r

This will take a while (perhaps up to an hour.) I can't recall exactly as I
have not run chkdsk recently. It should locate bad sectors and recover
readable information.
