| svchost.exe - Application Error
Well, I just spent 20 minutes describing my problem and when I clicked "Post" I lost the entire text. Let me just say I'm having virtually the exact same issues as everyone else in these related threads. Primarily the svchost.exe - Application Error and the Generic Host Process Error. I have a laptop and also a networked HP OfficeJet 7400. I disconnect each night. Has anyone found the definitive solution to this problem? |

Well now, after all that posting, and all the hours of troubleshooting, I finally deceided to remove my HP OfficeJet 7400 All-In-One printer and all its related software and the problem is gone. It must have been HP's hugely bloated software. Well, now when I return to the office on Monday I'll need to reinstall it in order to print. Hopefully it will be okay. After all it was fine for almost 10 days prior to the problem rearing its ugly head. |

I smell something fishy about this and my Cat too?, first try to clear your caches, internet files and delete cookies while offline to do that follow these: Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet connections >> Double click Internet Options . There on the General tab click clear History, internet files and Delete cookies then close the IE Properties. Run the Disk cleanup also on your Partition, by double click My Computer and there on your Partition (C:\) Right click and select properties then on the system Properties click Disk cleanup. Reboot and see if you will get the Error. Scan for Viruses and Malwares on your computer. Look in the Event Viewer for Error Messages (X) and double click them to get more info. Have you tried a system restore to the restore point created by automatic updates prior to it's installing updates? |

I'm sorry, i was so concerned with copying the error info into my message i forgot to ask if any one knew how i could correct this issue. I have restored to a point before the system attempted an auto update but it has not stopped. Every time i start up the computer i get this error & then every so often while i am using the computer until the computer eventually freezes. If anyone could help i would be very appreciative. What updates were done? |

Over the past month, I've been sporadically getting this error mssg on boot up, after signing into our domain. Application popup: svchost.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x7c918fea" referenced memory at "0x01c74622". The memory could not be "written". Sometimes, I can just cancel and continue to work as normal, other times, I hit cancel and my computer just sits at "applying policy" screen and never gets any further. I've searched the web and found many references to thie first instruction, but with the memory address ending in a 10 or a 5. My memory reference seems to change with each error (0x01c74ba2, etc.). I haven't been able to find anything to help resolve this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Info: Win XP Pro SP2 (fully updated) Networked computer, part of domain running McAfee Virusscan Enterprise 8.5.0i (updated to latest dat dated 2.7.2007) Genuine Intel T2300 @1.66 GHz, 1.0 GB RAM I would suspect bad ram. Pull half the chips, try to cause the error, put in the other half.... |

| RE: svchost.exe - Application Error
Have to go through our IT team for something like that, but will see what they can do. I was leaning toward it being more a software problem than a hardware problem since I don't ever seem to have any other problems, or errors at any other times. Just this one on boot up. I was thinking if memory was bad, I'd have other indicators. Thanks for the suggestion. |

Try to Turn windows updates OFF and see if you will get the error on start up. Application popup: svchost.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x745f2780" referenced memory at "0x00000070". The memory could not be "read". http://support.microsoft.com/kb/916089/en-us Event Type: Error Event Source: W32Time Event Category: None Event ID: 46 Description: The time service encountered an error and was forced to shut down. The error was: 0x80070700: An attempt was made to logon, but the network logon service was not started. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892501 Have a look in the Event Viewer and see if there Error messages (X) log and double click the message to get more Info and post them back in your next post. I will leave this agent repair to last: = Repair the update agent rundll32.exe setupapi,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 132 %systemroot%\inf\au.inf |

the application popup that u get us due to a 3rd party s/w occupying the reference area ..0x01c74622... the svchost.exe host app was not able write the reference mem area ... and thus u get the error msg ... i've seen these error msg coming up with hp driver application .. on systems running mcaffee antivirus .. my best guess would be to uninstall mcafee... install the application that is spitting u the error ...that is if it is part of any installable applicetion ...and install mcaffee antivirus again .... or atleats try thew steps with mcafee updates disabled from services.msc ... that iz gonna solve ur problem /..... |

This message is rather old, but the same thing started happening to multiple users on my network. Although the fix isn't detailed enough, it turns out that the MS06-40 security bulletin (which also refers to KB921883 in effect doesn't list this specific problem) ended up fixing my problem(s). My users who used other printers nearest them that weren't really "Network" printers per say couldn't use those printers anymore, when installing a new printer, all that would show up was "Microsoft Windows Network" instead of it listing the machines on the network that had printers installed. Users who had mapped network drives couldn't access them anymore.... It was bad. Just so happened a co-worker of mine pointed this update out to me. None of the other posts here list this as a possible fix, so I though it worth replying too for others to see as well. This fixed my problem. NOTE: When I applied this fix to my servers, most machines just had to be rebooted, so I didn't have to apply the fix to each machine. Again, the article doesn't make any specific mention of this particular problem (I find documentation on most MS Hotfixes to be very vague, and unless I'm having any particular problem don't apply them all because it has been my experience they can potentially cause other problems). If it weren't for the tip from a co-worker, I probably would have never found this info in here. |

I just resolved my issue by turning off automatic updates, reboot, then manually going to windows updates and installing the updates, turing on automatic updates, reboot. It seems that code has to do with some sort of Pentium program error detection. I would assume that my machine failed to autoinstall an update and this error was the result. What does it mean when I get an error messege saying "The instuction at "0x7c919902" referenced memory at "0x76ce1e44". The required data was not placed into memory because of an 1/0 error status of "0xc000009c"" Try doing a repair setup. How to Perform a Windows XP Repair Install Ensure you have a proper backup in case CHKDSK messes up: Start > Run > CHKDSK /F > Y > Reboot Also try doing a system restore if the problem is not fixed Start > Programs > Accessories > System tools > System Restore |
