I have a 160G hard disk, divided into one basic partition, and one extended.
The extended is divided into 3 logical drives. Lately, I inserted my flash
disk, and noticed that the icon has changed from the removable media icon to
the icon used by windows when it can not identify the extensions. So I
formatted my flash disk, and there you go; all of a sudden when I double
click on any of the drives, the search engine appears. The browsers doesn't
change into the contents of the drive, I mean it doesn't move on inside, and
instead it a search engine with the search within chosen as the drive letter
of the partition I clicked. This applies to the 4 partitions, the flash disk,
and my dvd rom. Next, I checked the file types, under the folder options, and
found out that the primary action for the disk drive extension is find. I
configured a new action, which is "Open" and chose the application to do it
as "explorer.exe". And now whenever I double click any partition it opens a
new window with the contents of the drive. The funny thing is that once you
open the drive, you continue browsing within the same window, which was the
way things used to be. I ran a full system scan, no viruses, nothing, and i
have kaspersky with integrity violation settings turned on and everything.
HELP!!!
