The Language bar may not be displayed on the Windows XP taskbar http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;825033 After you turn off the Language bar in Windows XP, you cannot turn it back on http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;819783 XP Pro?? Local Computer Policy\User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Control Panel\Regional and Language Options\ Restrict selection of Windows menus and dialogs language [[This setting restricts users to the specified language by disabling the menus and dialog box controls in the Regional and Language Options Control Panel. If the specified language is not installed on the target computer, the language selection defaults to English.]] Local Computer Policy\User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Start Menu and Taskbar\ Do not display any custom toolbars in the taskbar [[This setting affects the taskbar. The taskbar includes the Start button, buttons for currently running tasks, custom toolbars, the notification area, and the system clock. Toolbars include Quick Launch, Address, Links, Desktop, and other custom toolbars created by the user or by an application. If this setting is enabled, the taskbar does not display any custom toolbars, and the user cannot add any custom toolbars to the taskbar. Moreover, the “Toolbars” menu command and submenu are removed from the context menu. The taskbar displays only the Start button, taskbar buttons, the notification area, and the system clock. If this setting is disabled or is not configured, the taskbar displays all toolbars. Users can add or remove custom toolbars, and the “Toolbars” command appears in the context menu.]] HOW TO: Use the Language Bar in Windows XP http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;306993 http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm Read instructions at the top. I solve problem. There was another reason: Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages page - click Details But first on Advanced page I need *uncheck* 'Turn off Advanced Text facilities': it must be *not* checked, then Apply, then on the main page click 'Language Bar' and enable it. So, I was a hurry a little, its not a microsoft bug, sorry. Yes thank you very much for this link http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm It really helped me to recover missing language bar from taskbar. Great! |

This link is really useful but unfortunately I had a more sophisticated case. Because I didn't find any solutions I tried to find out it by myself. I wrote a Howto: This howto describes how to reveal the disppeared language toolbar on Windows XP Pro ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. On your system, find a user having that toolbar. (It is considerable to take a look on the Administrator also.) If you can not find any, this howto will not help you. 2. Sign in to the user having the language toolbar. Start regedit and export the whole HKCU\Software\Microsoft\CTF tree. (HKCU is HKEY_CURRENT_USER but I hope it's known. Other, please consider calling a computer expert.) Save this file on a place your other users can access. My file looks like this: Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\Assemblies]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\LangBar]
"ShowStatus"=dword:00000004
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\MSUTB]
"Left"=dword:000003b5
"Top"=dword:00000000
"Vertical"=dword:00000000
"ShowDeskBand"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\Sapilayr]
"ProfileInitialized"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\TIP]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\TIP\{DCBD6FA8-032F-11D3-B5B1-00C04FC324A1}]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\TIP\{DCBD6FA8-032F-11D3-B5B1-00C04FC324A1}\LanguageProfile]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\TIP\{DCBD6FA8-032F-11D3-B5B1-00C04FC324A1}\LanguageProfile\0x00000409]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\TIP\{DCBD6FA8-032F-11D3-B5B1-00C04FC324A1}\LanguageProfile\0x00000409\{09EA4E4B-46CE-4469-B450-0DE76A435BBB}]
"Enable"=dword:00000000
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\TIP\{DCBD6FA8-032F-11D3-B5B1-00C04FC324A1}\LanguageProfile\0x0000040e]
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\CTF\TIP\{DCBD6FA8-032F-11D3-B5B1-00C04FC324A1}\LanguageProfile\0x0000040e\{09EA4E4B-46CE-4469-B450-0DE76A435BBB}]
"Enable"=dword:00000000 3. Sign off and sign in to your user to repair. 4. Start regedit and check HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. If there is no starting key for ctfmon.exe create one. The name must be ctfmon.exe and the content defaultly can be C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe 5. At http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm find Language Bar Remove - Restore. Download the restore file and import it. The file looks like this: Code: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}]
@="Language bar"
"MenuTextPUI"="@%SystemRoot%\\System32\\msutb.dll,-325"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}\Implemented Categories]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}\Implemented Categories\{00021492-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{540D8A8B-1C3F-4E32-8132-530F6A502090}\InProcServer32]
@="C:\\WINDOWS\\System32\\msutb.dll"
"ThreadingModel"="Apartment"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]
"NoSaveSettings"=dword:00000000 6. Delete the whole HKCU\Software\Microsoft\CTF tree. Import the file you exported at 2. 7. Sign off and sign in. (Sign off means sing off not change user.) The language toolbar would appear. |
