| System Idle Process
What is "System Idle Process"? It runs for hours on my computer and grabs nearly all CPU processing capacity - so slowing everything down. Can it be given lower priority or (temporarily) disabled? |

Idle - not doing anything, a car idles, xp idles. It is the amount of that XP has been turned on and the processing power not being used. Look elsewhere for the problem. -- Just my 2¢ worth, Jeff __________in response to__________ "DavidN" <holeydollar@hotmail.com> wrote in message news:578B909C-D531-4B55-BF48-9B23E680D86F@microsoft.com... > What is "System Idle Process"? In other words it is just what it says it is - the percentage of the time that the system is just sitting there idle doing absolutely nothing. Your performance issues are being caused by something else. Good luck Ron Martell Duncan B.C. David; System Idle Process is exactly what it sounds like. It is the % of processing power you have waiting for something to do,doing nothing. If you are having problems, this is not the cause. Break out a dictionary and look up the word "idle," sometime. ;-} The "System Idle Process" metric is the amount/percentage of time that your CPU has nothing to do. A reading of 98-99% is generally considered a good thing, and readings above 90% are normal. Think of it like a car's engine idling in your driveway before you place the car in gear. If your computer is slow, it's because of something else, not the System Idle Process. -- Bruce Chambers Help us help you: http://dts-l.org/goodpost.htm http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html You can have peace.
