Chkdsk is not working in Read only mode in Windows XP

This is the second hard drive I have running on my system used for storage only. This is the message I receive when running CHKDSK. chkdsk is verifying files.
    • File verification completed
    • Correcting cross-link for file 8
    • chkdsk is vertifying indexes
    • deleting index entry w3svc.dll in index $130 of file 71.
    • deleting index entry dvdps.exe-011EC0BA.pf in index $130 of file 71.
    • deleting index entry dvdse~1.pf in index $130 of file 71.
    • Index verification completed.

Errors found. CHKDSK cannot continue in read only mode. I have tried running chkdsk in safe mode and normal mode I have tried switches /X , /F, /I, /R separately and together and a mixture of. I understand that I may have to install recovery console and run chkdsk from this. When I try to install recovery console from the MS CD the error message is that windows is not the same version and therefore it will not install.

When I program a check of my hard drive is installed or Windows XP (SP2) with right-click "tools with check boxes ticked repair etc. ..." the next boot the countdown begins and instead of making me the 5 steps verify of it makes me a message "An unspecified error occurred" and zap me for the verify on the desktop.

One will develop the ntpasswd about to blow admin pwd, the charter forbids it, however you you want to avoid the pwd admin console recup, then you want to test this. When the system fails, the last resort before formatting is the Recovery Console. But it must be the administrator password to take full advantage of the console. It is possible to perform a modif.bdr that the system does not ask you the password : HKLM \ software \ microsoft \ WindowsNT \ CurrentVersion \ Setup \ RecoveryConsole and put the valeurDWORD "SecurityLevel" to 1.
    • /CHKDSK / P / R is done in console cmd, not Recycling
    • / ntfs only

fsutil can check if a disk is incorporated or not, so therefore it needs a chkdsk.
