I am trying to repair a Dell laptop with XP. It won't start and keeps displaying this message. I think the message may be changing each time.

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0xF0DC92EB, 0xF7C4DFA0, 0x00000000)

I can't enter regular safe mode, but I can get into safe mode using some other option but can't remember what it is called. I would have to reboot and write it down.

I've done registry, malware, etc. scans and have fixed all kinds of problems. I've used these programs.

I tried Malwarebytes and Hijack This and neither will open. Malwarebytes wouldn't work on this computer even before it had this problem. Several tech support sites won't load like something is blocking them.

I don't have the disks that came with the computer. It's not mine. The person that owns it bought it used.

What else can I try?

A blue screen 0x0000008e along with the first parameter of 0xc0000005 tells us that a driver attempted to access an area of memory that it should not have. So try to uninstall all drivers from your computer and reload it back and check if you get the same error messages or not. You can also try to use system restore and check if that works out for you or not.

System restore is turned off and can only be turned in in normal mode which I can't enter.

Which exact drivers are you talking about? Can I reload them without the disk?
