I have two desktops and a laptop. All run Win XP. The 2nd desktop is a public-school owned pc for which I had to purchse a wireless usb adapter so that I could use it in another room without having to run a wire. My wireless router is a Linksys WRT110. The wireless usb adapter I purchased is also a Linksys. I got my daughter's computer up and running no problem after I installed the wireless usb adapter, HOWEVER, when I went to get on my laptop, I noticed it would not connect (wirelessly). I'd had no problems whatsoever with connecting to the internet prior to this moment. This leads me to believe there is a conflict somewere. So I called Linksys. I only got so far into explaining the problem when the tech tells me that to go any further, I'd have to pay for his support since my router warranty expired. Suffice to say, I was annoyed and hung up. My laptop now sits in perpetual "aquiring network address" mode and will not connect wirelessly at all. It connects just fine hardwired to the router. I've googled and tried the linksys support website to no avail. I know a LITTLE bit about this stuff but apparently not enough to fix it! HELP!
