startup error code:0x80090006 ,,unable to locate activation code

Need some urgent help for my XP SP3 system. Am running this system from last 2 years without a single problem, was fine yesterday when I shut it down. Today morning when I started the system it wont allow me to log-in and gave an error saying “error code:0x80090006, unable to locate Activation code”. The error was something like this, not sure.

Why such error all of a sudden ? I went into safe mode, logged in with default Administrator account and checked the event viewer. It was showing some problem at D\comxp_sp2\com\com1x\src\events\tier2\service.cpp and tells me to contact manufacturer. Any help ?

The error code that you have mentioned “0x80090006” is a malware problem. There is malware in your system preventing you to login. So the simple solution for this issue is to scan your system with good updated anti malware software and the best I can suggest you is Malwarebytes. You can do this from Safe Mode itself.

As per i know, the error "snmaster.idx file is missing" is related to the AOL... i wonder why you want to reinstall your Windows system for that ??? Why dont you just reinstall AOL.
