Age of Empires 3 Installation Issues

I installed the game awhile ago but recently when i find my lost disc, which remains undamaged. I try to install it, because i uninstalled it. The autoplay runs and gives me options play uninstall website and exit. So i click uninstall, knowings its gone to maybe fix the problem. The install shield wizard runs then goes through the initializing and configuring steps; it then closes and nothing happens. My computer whirs for a few seconds as its thinking then stops. Then i try installing instead of uninstalling by running setup.exe within the disc and it does the same thing. :( Help appreciated im quite lost.

Unfortunately, it sounds like your re-found disc is in fact damaged. No
error message, just a complete shutdown? Have you tried uninstalling the
game from Add/Remove Software in Control Panel?

I'm having the same exact issue with my AOE3 installation. I did a search of my entire system and found a few old AOE3 files from before I uninstalled it, and I deleted those, but it still fails. I don't think it's the disc, because between the time that I uninstalled it and my attempt at reinstallation, it has never even left the case.
