Event Id: 45 & 49 FTDisk logged in event view after boot up

I get these 2 errors after boot up

Event ID: Source FTdisk
The system could not sucessfully load the crash dump driver.

i changed the virusal memory to system managed & no dice, i tried to rename
atapy.sys in windows\system32\driver & no dice

using 500GB HD 2 gig ram XP Pro Sp3

this is annoying i tryed to clear pagefile also @ shutdown & no dice



what else can cause this?

I need to add that hibernation is causing this error i disable it then
renable it but pc wont hibernate & cause this error?
when i disable hibernation the error still came up then i enabled it created
the error again

there a way to fix hibernation?

Both hibernation (and presumably rge Crash Dump process) require a
pre-allocated file that is contiguous (i.e. in one piece on disk).

You may be able to fix this problem by defragmenting your disk. I would
use the free JKDefrag for this as it amalgamates the free space, which
the Windows defragmenter does not do (in XP, at least).

How did you try to clear the pagefile @ shutdown? You either clear it
or you don't. There is no try!

Create a new pagefile and then there will be no further question about
it.

It is easy to create a new pagefile, but before you do make note of
the current settings because you are
going to be changing them. Unless you know more about managing memory
that XP, the recommended settings are
"System managed size".

1. Go to "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "System", "Advanced"
tab, in the "Performance" section select "Settings", "Advanced" tab,
in the "Virtual Memory" make a note of the current settings, section
select "Change". Change the values to 0. Click OK, etc.

2. Delete c:\pagefile.sys

If you cannot see the pagefile.sys, in Explorer, click View, Folder
Options, tick "Show hidden files and folders" and UNtick Hide
extensions for known file types. Now you should be able to find
pagefile.sys. Delete it.

3. Reboot Windows and verify c:\pagefile.sys is really gone.

4. Go to "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "System", "Advanced"
tab, in the "Performance" section select "Settings", "Advanced" tab,
in the "Virtual Memory" section select "Change". Change the values
to System managed size, OK, etc.

5. Reboot Windows

Double check the settings again and also check to be sure c:
\pagefile.sys now exists with current date and time.

After you disable hibernation, navigate to c:\ and delete the
hiberfil.sys file, reboot and make sure it is gone.

Reboot and make sure c:\hiberfil.sys is gone and then enable
Hiberation again and test Hibernation.

To eliminate questions and guessing, please provide additional
information about your system.

Click Start, Run and in the box enter:

msinfo32

Click OK, and when the System Summary info appears, click Edit, Select
All, Copy and then paste the information back here.

There will be some personal information (like System Name and User
Name), and whatever appears to be private information to you, just
delete it from the pasted information.

To anyone else still tearing out their hair trying to solve this one (as was I), here is the solution. The problem is most likely rootkit malware attack.

To check and remove rootkits, download and run Kaspersky's TDSSKiller:

I ran this. It found one infection, quaranteened the file, rebooted my computer, and hibernation now works.

After countless attempts to fix hibernation, this was the only solution that worked for me.
