| Spell check language in Outlook Express
Up until a few weeks ago, I had XP Home running very well as well as OE's spell checker. Then I made a horriblle mistake; I let Microsoft update XP and other programs. Now OE spell checks in French only. How do I put it back to English? I have read some help suggestions but I always seem to wind up going down a blind alley. All of the language and spell checks in Office work fine. The "helps" say I must change the assignmnet in XP. How? Suggestions please!!!! |

| Re: Spell check language in Outlook Express
You no longer have spell checking capabilities in some languages in Outlook Express 6.0 after you install the 2007 Microsoft Office system: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932974 Outlook Express cannot use the MS Word spell check in Office 2007. Downloading a free spell check is the simplest way around this. Vampirefo Spell Check. Download it from Major Geeks: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=2952 Or download it from SnapFile: http://www.snapfiles.com/get/spelloe.html Or you may like TinySpell. (Checks the spelling as you type). Download it here: http://www.tinyspell.m6.net/ Australian English Spell Check (Also suitable for other English speaking countries.) http://www.justlocal.com.au/clients/oespellcheck/ If you have a previous version of Office, see this: http://www.outlook-tips.net/archives/2006/20061228.htm |

Thank you for the reply, but I don't think that is quite the problem. Yes, I have office 2007 and this problem started when I installed it. Spell checking is working OK in OE but it uses a French dictionary. I want to direct it to an English dictionary. |

And that is what my reply addressed. Once you install Outlook 2007, a French dictionary is the only spell check option available in Outlook Express. Please re-read my post. The solutions are there. |

Thanks. I did read your post and will follow up on it. It just seems very strange that a comany located in Redmond Washington (where the predominant language is English) would let this go like this. Oh, well! |

| Re: Spell check language in Outlook Express
All production of Outlook Express ended in June, 2006. With the OE development team disbanded to work on Windows Live Mail, there was no one to even think of making Outlook 2007 compatible with OE. |

Sounds like Thunderbird may be the best bet! |

Suit yourself. I have never had any Office programs installed on any of my computers and have used the Vampirefo spell check for years, and it works just fine. |

Hi, to you all suffering and having tried all of the advice, but failed, I have installed Windows Live mail. My operating system is Windows XP. Very easy to set up. You can choose any Language you want from the list, by clicking on tools, options, spelling, then choose Language and apply. Simpels. pardon the pun. |

Hi, I have been using Windows live mail, for a week or two, no glitch's at the moment. You are best manually setting the settings just follow theeasy steps shown. You can add more than one email address to the same page. It is easy to use. Just gives you more options. You dont even have to set up windows live to use it, as I havent done so. It was time for a change any way. The down load was free from Microsoft. cheers |

| Re: windows live Hotmail, windows mail all are integrated or a part of each other, which is a mailing website. If you search for windows email you will get search results for hotmail.com only. But if you have a email with @hotmail.com then you will have to input your account name with @hotmail.com and if you have windows live mail then you will have to input your account name with @live.com.
