cancel code 0x80004004

I was trying to sign into Windows Live Messenger today but I got this message " A newer version is available. You must install the newer version in order to continue." So, after doing the install for messenger 9, when the setup was completing then I got an error message "Programs were not installed because installation was cancelled. Canceled 0x8004004."I did not cancel the installation, so why i got this error? I tried again, but got the same error constantly. Can anyone please help?

Alright, can you do a system restore to a point where your old MSN messenger and other programs froms Windows Live are available. Once it is done, then try to use REVO uninstaller and select the following things for uninstallation - windows writer, windows messenger and windows live sign in assistant. After everything is removed then try to install the latest version and see if that works.

If you want to solve the error code 0x80040004 then delete Windows live folder and temp folder in your accounts appdata or application data folder in Safe Mode and then try to restart normally and reinstall the updated version.
