fltmgr.sys bsod

I wonder if anyone can help me, I keep getting this bsod -

Stop: 0x0000007E (0xc0000005, 0xF845DF4E, 0xF894C490, 0XF894C190)

FLTMGR.SYS - Address F845DF4E base at F8446000, Datestamp 44e97991

To bring you up to speed - My computer stopped working a couple days ago and wouldn't boot up at all due to contracting the 'virut' virus. I downloaded and burnt a Kaspersky ISO scan disk and it scanned my computer from that and found numerous infected files.
Since kaspersky quaranteened and deleted alot of the affected files my computer booted up but wouldn't get past the login window (it would ask for password at the login, once entered it logged out straight away).

So I then inserted my windows disk and tried to repair the windows installation. It completed that but after the necessary restart it now comes up with the error message listed above.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Many thanks in advance.

Re: fltmgr.sys bsod

As per Microsoft there are several reasons for getting this error but most of the time it appears when you use a Creative Labs SoundBlaster 16 Joystick with a game port in Windows XP. So as Microsoft is well of the problem they have provided a KB Article with steps to fix the same. You should check the same. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321637
