| Network Deployed Printer, need help
I am using GPO on Windows Server 2008 to deploy network printers to lab stations and I can't seem to get it to function correctly. The lab stations are windows XP and have the client side extensions installed. I have created a section in AD called Dev4 and then inserted a Virtual Machine with the name of GPOTest. I then created GPO called PRINTTEST that is linked to Dev4 (didnt do anything else, but I believe it is supposed to go to all machines located in Dev4 once they have been rebooted). I then went into the edit menu of PRINTTEST and under Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Deployed Printers ..... selected the printers I wanted to push out. Nothing! Then I tried unter Printer Management and Deployed it there to no avail. Is there something I missed? |

are the XP machines running pushprinterconnections.exe which is basically the client side for deployed printers for XP and Server 2003. If you are referring to Group policy preferences extension you would need to post in the Group Policy newsgroup. You can pickup a 32 bit version of pushprinterconnections.exe from Microsoft's download center in pmcmgmt.exe or you can use the file from 2008 but if you are running x64 DC the file is x64 and will not run on 32bit xp. The 32bit pushprinterconnections.exe functions fine of x64 clients. -- Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base here: http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
