| Re: Right click is not working in IE 7
Try running IE with add-ons disabled *** If you are running IE6: *** Start > Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced (tab) > UNCHECK "Enable third-party browser extensions" > OK Run IE6 now. If it works now, one of your add-ons is causing the problem. Start Internet Explorer as normal, Tools, Manage Add-ons, Enable or Disable Add-ons. Disable all the add-ons. Enable third-party browser extensions in Internet Options. Restart your browser and enable the add-ons one by one till the problem appears and you get the culprit. *** If you are running IE7 *** Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Internet Explorer 7 (No Add-ons) to start without any add-ons. Try using the browser and see if the same problem arises. If the problem does not occur again, start IE7 normally, go to Tools > Manage Add-ons and disable all the add-ons. Enable each add-on one at each time and see if the problem occurs again. Once it occurs again after enabling an add-on, you have nailed the culprit. (if the menu bar does not appear, hit the Alt key on the keyboard) You may also want to do a spyware scan by using the following programs (free) |

Is it one particular web site that you can't right click on? This functionality can be disabled by javascript on the site. Why does that look so familiar? |

First, when replying to messages in this forum, it would be best to click the QUOTE button, to include previous replies, so the various helpers can read only your latest message, and see all previous things that have been tried so far. Here are some more things to try: In Internet Explorer: On the menu bar, click Help, click About. What is the complete Version number information? Can you right-click in the Address Bar above the page? Can you right-click on the Tool Bar above the page? Can you right-click on the Title Bar at the very top of the browser? As a work around, if you have 2 Windows logo keys (Win-key) on your keyboard, look to the right of the right Win-key for a Context Menu key. (An image of a page with arrow pointer.) Click anywhere on a web page and press that Context key to get a context menu. If you cannot right-click a link and "Save Target As", you can instead, left-click the link and hold the button down, then slide away from the link, press ESC key to cancel the drag operation, and release the button. Then press Context key for that link's options menu. Another thing to try. Close Internet Explorer. Right click on your desktop. Click New. Click Text Document. Name it TEST1.HTM and press Enter. Answer YES to the Are You Sure question. Double click that empty web page file to open in Internet Explorer. Right click in the blank page area. Anything? Press your Context key. Does the context menu appear in the upper left part of the page display area? Were you having any other computer problems in the week before the right click stopped working, or are you still having other problems? Since Internet Explorer is certainly in a CONFUSED state, you cannot be certain that its security features are working while on the Internet, and it is very possible that malware is infesting your system. You should not attempt a Repair Install while your computer is confused. You need to make sure you have backup copies of any Valued Data on your computer. You need to do a full malware scan to see if malware is the source of your problem. 1. Malwarebytes anti-malware http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php 2. See if you can download and run the MSRT manually: http://www.microsoft.com/security/ma...e/default.mspx Run the FULL scan, not the QUICK scan! You may need to download the MSRT on a non-infected machine, then transfer MRT.EXE to the infected machine and rename it to SCAN.EXE before running it. 3. Run the Windows Live Safety Center's 'Protection' scan (only!) in Safe Mode with Networking, if need be: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/howsafe.htm 4. Run a COMPLETE check for hijackware, including posting the requested logs in an appropriate forum, not here. Checking for Hijackware - Help with Hijackware You may need to seek expert assistance in: or other appropriate forums as well. You should probably keep detailed records of every thing you try, and please report back here with any progress or solution you discover, so anyone else having the same or similar problem may be helped. |

sorry to open up an old thread (and hijack it as well) but i'm having the same issue, and this is the most info i've found relating to it. as far as right clicking goes, i can Rclick on the address bar, title bar, and tool bar, as well as anywhere else on the computer (desktop, office, etc.) however, Rclicking on any highlighted text in IE or on a pic results in nothing. i've tried many sites, so its not the java based issue. i also tried that context menu key with Lclick, and again, it works everywhere except IE. even tried the blank test page with same results. my ver. number is 7.0.5730.13, downgraded from IE8 cuz i thought that might have been the issue, but obviously it wasn't. i think this whole problem started when i D/L'ed IE8, but i can't remember exactly. i'm doing a full malwarebytes scan now... i'll let you know what it comes up with. if there's any other things to try, please advise. thanks. ok, malwarebytes found 3 objects, which i deleted. computer rebooted, but no help. also forgot to add before that i did try opening IE without addons, but that didn't help either... at least it got you to reply, right? do you have any helpful suggestions? umm... can you read? if you look a few posts up you'll see what the issue was. if you don't have anything constructive or in any way helpful to add, i'm sure there's some erectile disfuntion sites that you could troll instead of hindering progress here. |

Yeah... stop bumping. It doesn't do anything because you are posting to Usenet. |

Burn BitDefender, or another program listed at the link below, to a CD (using a working machine) and test the infected machine with it. BitDefender also has a Rootkit checker on the Linux Desktop; run it if you think that's the problem: Download the executable rather than the .iso image.. it prompts you to insert a CD and burns the file, no problem. Then run these: Malwarebytes© Corporation http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam/program/mbam-setup.exe SuperAntispyware http://www.superantispyware.com/supe...freevspro.html Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers |

On Usenet there are NO "few posts up" you fool. I am not reading your posts from that pitiful web "forum" you are using. Note how many people show "n/a" for their number of posts. NONE of them can see a "few posts up". Only the few who show an actual post count can see. |
