Terminated svchost.exe and facing some problems

Hi all,

I stopped the some 'svchost.exe' tasks from TaskManager tab and when I restarted the pc, found that there are some network related issues. One main issue is, I'm not able to open connect a java client to jboss server (it is bound in 0.0.0.0 address through port 1099). any reason that stopping 'svchost.exe' could have caused the issue.

any other help regarding this is much appreciated.

thanks
Syed Abuthahir

svchost.exe is involved with any number of services so stopping
svchost.exe could result is any number of results. Don't do it again.
You should check the system recently and in the System logs and Application Viewer for errors and post copies here. You can try to access Event Viewer by choosing Start > Control Panel > Admin tools > and event viewer.

Re: Terminated svchost.exe and facing some problems

The program seems to have NetOp in its title. Is it Remote Control software and currently installed or uninstalled? Incase uninstalled then have you tried to remove it via Add and Remove Programs or use some other steps? Which version of Windows XP is installed and what sevice pack updates are installed? Are you using any antivirus software?
