Fax console doesn't display sent or received faxes

I recently installed fax service with a COM2 attached external modem. I can
send and receive faxes using fax wizard or fax printer, but they are not
displayed in fax console and therefore I cannot display or print them. After
opneing the fax console or selection a fax location to display, the consoles
displays "Refreshing..." in its status line and spins the CPU for about 10
secs. After then the mesage "All fax printers ar inaccessible." is displayed

Re: Fax console doesn't display sent or received faxes

State how you installed Windows XP Fax, how you configured your fax account,
and why you are certain this modem supports class 1 or 2 fax and is in the
WHCL.
State what you see when you examine your Fax Account properties in the Fax
Console.
State what you mean by "fax wizard" and what other fax software is installed
on your partition.

Hi Russ, pls. find my answers below labelled with ..up.
Nevertheless I feel that you have not read my post but used canned text with
questions already mentioned in my original post. Is this your understanding
of Microsoft Service Excellence?

...up: I installed it according to the online help on "Installing fax
service". My fax modem is an external class 1 and 2.0 fax attached to COM2
(EXAR with a rockwell chip). And as can send and receive faxes without any
problem. I don't know what WHCL means. If you mention the registry: yes the
fax is there and properly configured under HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Fax

...up: There is no menue item "Fax account properties" because it is an local
fax.

...up: Fax wizard is the an abbreviation of "Send Fax Wizard" which comes up
when ond selects "File -> Send a fax..." from the fax console menue. Its an
easy way to sent one pager with simply formatted little text only.

...up There is no other fax software installed. I'm using Outlook 2007 but
w/o any fax functionality.

That was certainly an inconsiderate response. You appear to be unfamiliar
with how end user newsgroups work. Good luck doing your own troubleshooting.

RE: Fax console doesn't display sent or received faxes

Hi all,

meanwhile I managed to solve the problem reported above. The problem was
caused by a McAfee firewall configuration problem. Resetting the firewall
configuration to its defaults did the trick. In detail, the image of fax
console (fxsclnt.exe) was not recognized in "Program Permissions". After the
reset to defaults, it was properly recognized.

By setting 127.0.0.1 as a "Trusted" network I could also use some more
restricting rules in the McAfee firewall as I did before.

Re: Fax console doesn't display sent or received faxes

Hallo Russ,

motivated by your good wishes I could manage to solve the problem. Pls.
consult my notes above. As I already have stated, your "canned" questions
(you always respond with these) were far apart from topics gathering
information detailing the problem.

Disguising your behavior behind "netiquette" is really inconsiderate.

Re: Fax console doesn't display sent or received faxes

Ridiculous. Not a canned response at all. FYI: problems troubleshooting
modem configuration with WFS and with that error message _always_ require
knowing the same information:
1. How you installed the fax service and when (before or after various SP's)
2. Whether your modem supports faxing and is on the Windows Hardware
Compatibility List
3. Whether other programs are installed that may have initialized your
modem.
Since you provided none of that information and wouldn't, then it is up to
you to solve your problems. No need to insult those who try to help. You'll
not get far that way.

To: Weisenheimer

And did you bother to tell anyone that you were using McAfee's firewall
before you fixed your problem--NO!
However, thank you for posting your solution, it may help someone else.
Very few users of this and other support forums are employees of Microsoft.
The support given is voluntary.
Running around with a chip is likely to result in less support not more.
