    Did you tried the same on Microsoft website. You can check the link below. This will give you a direct download link below. You can simply use that to run the DirectX setup and then check back in your pc. Ample of games setup offers you automatic direct x setup. So there is no need to download the same manually from web. The link that I had given to you is just an 200kb file which is a web installer. It will automatically add the updated edition of DirectX in your system.

    You cannot use DirectX 10 on an XP or earlier machine.

    Or why not just;

    Supported Operating Systems:
    Windows - 4.10 and higher
    WinNT - 5.0 and higher

    But why confuse anyone?

    Automatic updates is the best way to collect updates. I was also trying to install a game which was asking for directx update. But later on I simply ran windows update and the issue is resolved. There is no problem at all. So I will also recommend you to go for the same. Because through windows update you can get the most compatible edition of DirectX. While if you download and install that manually then there are chances that you might face problem with system stability.

    I installed the same via web installer and it worked. There is no issue here. I think you can go for the same. There is also one more way to install updates manually. For that you have to click on the below link. There click on Custom and manually select the updates you want. DirectX is just one among them. If that does not work then the option left is to simply run the web installer. That will be more ok to fix the problem you are facing.
