    Disk Defragmenter could not start

I am getting the above error message when I on the system desktop or in Safe Mode. We have done the System file checker and have searched using Yahoo without any success. We have also just removed the trojan that installs as video codec, regained control of the machine, rans some updates, deleted temp files and were looking for a defrag to finish. Can anyone please help me out? Thanks

Can you tell us how much free memory do you have in your system? You should be having more enough memory to do defrag.

I dont think free memory has to do anything with that, you actually need is enough free disk space.

Normally a computers memory forgets everything when you power down, but the disk drive remembers everything you saved to it.

Is the drive partitioned? Where is the pagefile located?

Did you check whether the drive is partitioned or not? Where is the pagefile located by the way? You can also give a try to JKDefrag, it is free and excellent. An unbeatable combination.
