Greetings, Unfortunately this latest update has been made mandatory by Microsoft. I am really not quite sure why it's mandatory, but it is. So, to directly answer your question, it's not a hack, it's 'by design' (and I guess, bullying). -- Jonathan Kay Microsoft MVP - Windows Live Messenger MSN Messenger/Windows Messenger MessengerGeek Blog: http://www.messengergeek.com Messenger Resources: http://messenger.jonathankay.com (c) 2009 Jonathan Kay - If redistributing, you must include this signature or citation -- "Not happy" <Not happy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8EA1E76D-0C1B-41CF-9A4E-C3464DBBFE63@microsoft.com... > I am not allowed to continue unless:- > > Quote:

| Re: Have i been hacked?
I too am confused, but I think I know why these updates are mandatory. These updates are usually security patches PROTECT people from hackers, but that does sound like something a hacker would say. But I'm confused about why people are forced to use these updates, yet UPGRADES (WLM2008 < WLM2009) aren't. I'm so sick of hearing "how did u get ur pic to move" when it's easy on 2009. Upgrading would be so much easier even if they had a BANNER come on screen every time they start Messenger that says "2009 is now available", instead of having to check all the time. So anyway, now you know why they NEED to be installed. Hope I helped. -- Vick MSTR -- Windows Tutorials Evolved http://youtube.com/MasterOfTheXP "Not happy" <Not happy@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:8EA1E76D-0C1B-41CF-9A4E-C3464DBBFE63@microsoft.com...
