Re-directing Start Menu target folder

I have "My Documents" stored on a separate D:\ drive and want to direct the
Start Menu shortcuts for Favourites, My Music etc to the appropriate folders
in My Documents, on the D:\ drive instead of the default on C:\. I've been
able to customise the My Documents shortcut as it's possible to change the
target folder location from the Desktop icon, right click properties
dialogue. However, I can't find any way of doing the same with the other
Start Menu shortcuts.

I'm sure I had it set up like this before I recently re-formatted, but can't
remember how I did it. Possibly, I need to change the shortcut(s) in the C:\
drive Start Menu folder.

Can anyone assist, please ?

Regards.

Mike

TweakUI
(http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/d...powertoys.mspx)
will do what I think you're after (My Computer > Special Folders), although
note that repointing "My Documents" won't affect your Favo(u)rites. As for
the rest, only you know what "etc" encompasses!

I'm not 100% sure, but I think You can do a right click drag with those folders.
Drop where you want the folder to be located. Choose Move Here from the
resulting menu. XP will automatically update the registry about the location
of these special folders.

Kind regards

I will second TweakUI. Great program and I was using it last night and saw
exactly what you want/he mentioned.

I also like TweakUI, but for this particular job it is better to do it
the original windows way, as TweakUI also mention on the tab for
Special Folders.

Kind regards

Re: Re-directing Start Menu target folder

Many thanks to all. Tweak UI (which I already had installed) worked for this.

Just to explain, I wanted to redirect My Pictures, My Music, Favourites (UK
spelling) shortcuts which are on the right hand side of the pop up start menu
to the folders I'm using on D:\ drive.

I also tried the right click drag and drop (move) which you suggested but
wouldn't let me drop as a new menu item. It kept dropping into one of the
existing menu folders / shortcuts.

Thanks.

Mike
