c000021a {Fatal System Error}: no boot

“STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with
a
status of 0xc0000034 (0x00000000 0x0000000)
The system has been shutdown.”
I left my pc unattended for a couple of hours, connected to the web,
and when I came back I found a black screen and my pc
inoperative.....I had to unplugged it to shut it down.
Since then I' m having that error and I can't boot up xp in any mode.
Otherwise, millennium, in the second partition of the same Hd, goes
smoothly.
I suspect that this error is due to a windows automatic update; my
hardware and software is unchanged lately.
By using my original xp pro cd I started the recovery console,
selecting 1 as for installation (but I'm not at all sure if 1 is
correct considering i have a dual boot system: xp pro and
millennium), and entered chkdsk / p / r.
Nothing to do: the damn error is still there!
Do you have any suggestion to solve this problem without loosing my
documents and emails (on E) ?

You can try a manual System Restore: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545.
Now would be a good time to review your backup policy. If you don't back up
your important documents on drive E: and your EMail then you're asking for
trouble. A 2.5" disk in an external USB case, to be used once a week, is a
low-cost but highly effective backup medium. This time you probably won't
lose any files, even if you can't start Windows but next time you might lose
the lot.

I've had three computers come into the shop with this exact error in the
last two weeks. In each case, all machines were so heavily infected with
viruses, trojans, and other malware that they needed a clean install of
Windows. I strongly suspect that your case is the same and this had nothing
to do with Windows Updates.

You can scan for malware by either pulling the drive and scanning from a
working, clean machine or by using a Bart's PE with appropriate plugins.
Otherwise, back up your data onto an external hard drive by using a rescue
system such as Knoppix or Bart's and do a clean install of Windows.
