Hello,
Problem: The computer is in hibernate and won't wake up. I get the Dell start up splash screen, but I do not get the resuming Windows bar. After the Dell screen, I get just a blinking cursor (white horizontal line type) in the upper left hand corner.
Computer: Dell Inspiron 9300 with a recently installed (about 6 months ago) WD 160GB SATA hard drive.
OS: XP with SP3
Looking for one of the following solutions:
1) How the heck to wake the thing up
2) How to recover the files off the hard drive if I can't get the computer to wake up (really only need 1 folder of music & one folder of photos, everything else was backed up)
3) Any good reason that a hard drive could be damaged so quickly? The computer is a desktop replacement, and very rarely leaves the desk.
I'm a competent computer user, but not expert. In my school (I'm a teacher), I am tech support, but I haven't made the leap to Linux.
Thanks for your help,
Scott
