Re: Multiple BSODs on boot/startup

Can you please elaborate the steps you have taken to reach that
conclusion?

How many RAM sticks are installed? Are they all of the same type?

What is your computer make and model.

Is there a any correlation in time between the last installation of RAM
and the beginning of your problem?

Hope this helps.

Re: Multiple BSODs on boot/startup

i think its DUMBER to perceive it as a question, its clearly supposed to be a joke

Gerry, i removed the new RAM and stopped getting the BSODs, hence i think its the RAM. and yes the problem did start with the installation of the new ram but there were so many other changes at that time that i wasnt able to pinpoint the problem.

Bozo has identified the RAM as being bad, so rather than replace it,
bozo asks if there is any way to fix the problem without replacing the
RAM.

That's just plain DUMB.

As was your reply.

Re: Multiple BSODs on boot/startup

So because of that you immediately have to put your 2 cents in which results
in an insult.
Now you call him Bozo. Why don't you ignore?

How did you you acquire the new memory? What was the source of advice
you were relying on to get the memory?

How many new sticks were installed? What is not clear is whether the new
memory was unsuitable or whether a stick was damaged?

What is your computer make and model?

I got the new memory from a local vendor, the guy who repaired my motherboard recommended him!!

Initially only 1 stick of 128MB was installed, the new one was for 512 MB. Both DDR1.

Computer details are in the attached text file.

Thanks for looking into this with so much detail :)
Attached Files
File Type: txt cpuz.txt (29.3 KB, 121 views)

Re: Multiple BSODs on boot/startup

I think this is the Manual for your computer:
http://download.asrock.com/manual/P4i45G.pdf

The memory requirements are on page 5:
Memory: 2 slots for DDR: DIMM1 and DIMM2 (PC1600/ PC2100), Max. 2GB;
2 slots for SDR: DIMM3 and DIMM4 (PC133), Max. 2GBMemory:

I cannot reconcile what is installed with the Manual. You seem to have
two different types of memory but I am not sure whether the difference
is significant or has any bearing on your problem. You need someone with
more knowledge than I have to advise you as to whether the installed
memory is suitable for the computer.

DIMM1
Memory type DDR
Manufacturer (ID) Hyundai Electronics (AD00000000000000)
Size 128 MBytes
Max bandwidth PC2700 (166 MHz)

DIMM2
Memory type DDR
Manufacturer (ID) Xerox (4343415400000000)
Size 512 MBytes
Max bandwidth PC3200 (200 MHz)

Which memory originally came with the computer?

Re: Multiple BSODs on boot/startup

Re: Multiple BSODs on boot/startup

Have a look in the System log in Event Viewer for Errors and Warnings
and post copies here. Don't post any more than 48
hours ago.

You can access Event Viewer by selecting Start, Control Panel,
Administrative Tools, and Event Viewer. When researching the meaning
of the error, information regarding Event ID, Source and Description
are important.

HOW TO: View and Manage Event Logs in Event Viewer in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308427/en-us

A tip for posting copies of Error Reports! Run Event Viewer and double
click on the error you want to copy. In the window, which appears is a
button resembling two pages. Click the button and close Event
Viewer. Now start your message (email) and do a paste into the body of
the message. Make sure this is the first paste after exiting from
Event Viewer.

Include in your response your equivalent of this message.
