exe programs default to windows picture and fax viewer

I can't open any programs! Everything defaults to the picture and fax viewer,
even a fix I got from Doug's website. HELP!

Besides the .exe fix, also try the .lnk fix from the same site.

Fix File Associations.

Both those fixes are zip files. You can right-click one, click Open
With, and select the .zip program. Click "Always use this program to
open this type of file" and the next zip will open properly.

Ken, did you fix your computer? Mine does the exact thing? Every program on my computer is opening with the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer. Please let me know how you fixed this. I have no access to any of my programs. thanks

Click Start, Run and type this command:

regsvr32 /i shell32.dll

Press Enter key.

There are a couple of things to try here:

If still no-go, try it in Safe Mode. If it works there, install, update
and run malwarebytes from http://malwarebytes.org
