Virus turned off active desktop - how to restore

I have 4 systems at home out of which one is Dell dimension 3000 running with Windows XP Home edition with Service Pack 2. Somehow it got infected with spyware guard 2009 virus variant. I have Norton installed on this PC, performed deep scan, it detected spyware guard, deleted it but it comes again after few minutes automatically.

The problem I’m facing due to this is I get the wallpaper screen but no desktop icons. I downloaded a malware removal program which said that two windows components are turned off. After analyzing I found that one of them is the Disaplay. I don’t know how can I fix the same. I tried searching web for some help but dint found anything.

Hoep someone here can help me out getting rid of this Spyware and the problem. Thank you.

Usually Antivirus programs are good to remove Virus..but they fail when it comes to malware or spyware. So i will suggest you to better try out the following removal software, it's free. http://www.malwarebytes.org
