iTunes error 4000 burning CD

Hello,

Up until I tried to burn my playlists to an audio cd, I thought iTunes for
Win XP was a good program. However when I select my playlist and click burn,
I get "unknown error 4000", and the burn is cancelled.

Things I've tried to remedy the problem:

-Change burning speeds from 1x through 48x
-Make sure the disc is recognized. It is.
-Try audio cd, mP3, data cd.
-tried cd-RW and cd-R.
-Reinstalled iTunes
-I have scanned the iTunes help files and website. The closest thing I got
to an answer from their crappy forums was, "haha burn in hell windows users".

I'm surprised that no one else has posted about this problem on these
forums. from a few other posts I've come across out there in cyber space, it
seems there are thousands of us having this error 4000 problem, but I haven't
found an answer yet.

Please, I'm begging you for some help. I hate to think that songs I've
purchased, songs that are begging to get played from my stereo, are trapped
in my PC. Music is life.

Regards,

-Fred

iTunes is a product of Apply Computers. Suggest you go to their website (URL)
and look for tech support or their forum.

2 things
-First don't use the iPod or iTunes both are poor products and you pay too
much for an iPod
-Second try Apples website/newsgroup if you can not get rid of the iPod for
a better product.

I found my own answer. It seems that most people are able to fix the "4000
error" by simply going into control panel>add/remove
programs>iTunes>change/uninstall and click on "repair" (NOT UNINSTALL). This
reinstalls iTunes as the main cd burning program and overides any competing
burning software, like nero for example. Don't worry you won't lose your
music. If you're nervous about losing your music, copy it before you perform
the repair.

Well none of that worked for me. Still getting error 4000.

Re: iTunes error 4000 burning CD

Okay, i went through 10 blank disks and 100 hundred different sites with different advice.
I have itunes 8.0 and when the screen popped up to ask what the speed is, it didn't matter. what did matter what the cd text. UNCHECK!!!
its an itunes bug and for some reason it won't allow you to burn disks. You can keep sound check though.
If you have a different version, sorry.

Sorry to hear that. I un-checked the CD Text block and it worked. If the tunes are not in AAC format perhaps an open source program will work. I use CDEX a lot. http://cdexos.sourceforge.net/?q=download. Also, iTunes will convert files to .mp3, and then you can use Windows Media player to burn a CD, or copy the mp3s and use as you like. Hope this helps.

Oh, after using Microsoft since DOS 5.0, I bought an Imac last night. It is a very "thoughtful" system and I am glad I got it. Still have my XP and VISTA boxes (and Linux) - but this Mac is a delight.

I am having the same problem (error 4000) when burning a disc from i-tunes. I tried going to the add/remove programs and when i clicked on i-tunes it only gave an uninstall option and did not give a repair option.....i've read all of the posts here and I still don't know how to correct this problem.

That was perfact it not only helped but it also fixed what was wrong, for any one who has the (4000) error please use this step, im talking with experience i just used these steps and you do get to keep all music in your iTunes.

Re: iTunes error 4000 burning CD

I've tried many of the solutions that worked for others without success.

What worked for me was to update QuickTime and at the next window take the update both QuickTime and iTunes option.

I love Windows! ; {
