Reset To Factory Default Settings

My PC came with XP Home installed. I have a problem regarding my processer, I
think. I am unable to use WMP11 whilst d/l or u/l files. It keeps stalling
when playing back. I have backed up all my files and I want my PC to revert
to it's original settings that it came with.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Martin

Re: Reset To Factory Default Settings

Press F8 during the 'black screen' part of a restart, just after the BIOS
screen. The menu there will probably expose the repair features included in
your system. You lose all your saved data and settings that way.

I would suggest you try a few fixes for WMP first. You probably need to
reinstall your sound driver, or some of the Codec.

RE: Reset To Factory Default Settings

Thank you Mark.
I tried the information you gave me. As I have
backed up everything I need I wanted to go back to original settings. I tried
F8 but saw no option of BIOS to select. Losing everything left on PC is not a
problem I'm still not able to return the PC to factory settings.
Regards, Martin.

Re: Reset To Factory Default Settings

Reinstalling Windows won't fix a problem with your processor.

Sorry, I don't understand the above at all. What makes you think your
problem is with your processor? If there is a processor problem, it's
unlikely that it would manifest itself by stalling. Also note that
reverting the computer to its original settings (do you mean
reinstalling Windows?) will do nothing to solve a processor problem.
