Extracting Windows Movie Maker from Xp Service Pack 2

    Hi All:

I work for the US Air Force am in need of windows Movie Maker for a project
I'm working on. While our Dell PCs all have XP SP2 installed, the AF, DOD
and USGvmnt have added a layer of security called Standar Desktop
Cofiguration, and as part of that the have locked down our systems &
eliminated access to most XP "tools" to includ Movie Maker.

I downloaded XP SP2 & extraced the files to a temp directory. I just need
to know which files comprise Windows Movie Maker so I can gather them
together and request they be installed on my system.

    Thanks

    John Pearson, GG-13 USAF

I hear what you are saying about the security
but just as an experiment...go to...Start / Run...
    type... moviemk.exe and press enter.

Let me know what (if anything) happens.

    MM2.1.

(you'll need your Windows XP Disk)

    1. Go to C:\Windows\inf
    2. Right click on Moviemk.inf and click on Install
    3. When it asks for your Windows XP cd put
it in and browse to the I386 folder. Click OK

John P. If you really need the software available to you, you will need to
contact the IT person responsible for your system and have them unblock that
program and place it's icon on your desktop for use.

John I. - I'm going to venture a guess and say that if his system is locked
down that much he won't have the Run command available to him. I've worked
with some of these types of restricted systems and through policy settings
you can really restrict what shows on the Start Menu or what the machine can
    run.

Yeah...that was my thinking once I visited Papa's website & found the
location. Apparently AF & their SDC just delete any links to these apps. It
still works. Didn't try your specific suggestion, but thanks
