    cannot turn on automatic update

I’m running windows xp computer since a long time but don’t know how recently It got affected with some spyware. I’m in process to remove the same, have bought some tools. But the problem I’m here is I can Turn On my Automatic Updates. Whenever I try changing the settings and keep it On, it gives me an Error Code 0x8DDD0018 and updates get disabled.

    Any help will be appreciated.

RE: cannot turn on automatic update

For turning on Updates you will need to have your system Spyware/ malware/virus free. I don’t know which tools you have bought but I must say you should you scan the system using Win32/Vundo. Get more info about these here http://www.microsoft.com/security/po...=Win32%2fVundo. Once done, follow these steps.

    • Go to start > Control Panel > Double Click Network and Internet Connections > Double click Internet Options > IE Properties window.
    • Here click on General Tab and Clear History and Delete Cookies.
    • Now click on Advanced Tab and uncheck the box for option ‘Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest)’
    • Then try to Disable the Add-Ons on your Browser somehow installed on your browser

Now restart the system and see if you are able to Turn On Automatic Updates.
