    IEEE 1284.4 Printing support software/driver

If I am connecting the All-in-one 3055 printer to Windows XP, then it recognizes the printer and tries to install it but could not find DOT support or IEEE 1284.4 support and then it fails to install the printer properly. I have gone through many rounds of HP support with the sending me updated versions of the printer drivers but to no avail. I dont think its a HP driver problem but a Windows XP problem and I am able to install it on other XP machines but not on this machine, where I am running the OS on Virtual Machine. I have got a Macbook. Please help

As per my search it seems that IEEE 1284 is a parallel port standard, not a usb standard. Are you using an adapter to connect your multifunction peripheral? Incase you are connecting a USB peripheral, with no parallel hardware involved, directly to the computers USB port or even through a USB hub I dont understand what IEEE 1284 support has to do about it. When you are using an adapter the combination of using a virtual Windows XP machine on the foreign Mac hardware with the parallel to Usb adapter might be to many layers of problem for the poor drivers to keep track of.
