XP-SP3 restart after standby and hibernate

After I upgraded Windows XP from SP2 to SP3 I am having issues with standby and hibernate mode. It will work actually but the system starts up again immediately. When I was having SP2 then it didnt have any issues with same mode? Also on the C: drive there is more free space then used space. Can anyone tell me how to solve this issues? Thanks

Have you checked the status of 'wake on Lan' in your Bios? Is there any programs scheduled in your system?

I have set once a week the defrahment disk program schedule and also the default check for updates for Windows every one hour. So, incase I delete the scheduled programs then will it solve the issues for me? Thanks for the reply.

There might be another issue that if you have insufficient disk space then going into standby mode will be aborted because of lack of room to store memory image.

So, I have disabled all the scheduled programs but my computer starts immediately after hibernating or standy mode. As, I have said earlier, I have got more free disk space on the C: drive then used on.

Hi guys, i`m new here. I just found this topic searching in google. I'm having the same problem on my notebook after formating it and installing the WinXP with SP3.

I didn`t had SP3 installed before the re-instalation of WinXP and this problem wasn`t happening..

I guess it might be some bug caused by this pack.
I`m wondering if the guy who posted here as "Unknown" uses an AMD processor CPU?? Because I do.

It`s well known that Microsoft often releases service packs with bugs on AMD systems...

    I just found he solution.
After installing the SP3, it auto reactivate the ENERGY option that makes the hard drives turn off after 20 minutes.

I just disabled that option and it stoped happening.
I hope to help you guys.

check if my previous post helps you.

turn off the energy option, by right click desktop, then click proprieties.

go to screensaver, then energy, disable all and check if it works.

    it works for me.
