| transfering file problem freeze up, but I got that one fiqured out. Now on disc 3 at about 75% it pops up a window stating "A problem occurred when trying to transfer the file 'TSData/Res/Sound/RnB.package' from the media. Then asks if I want to retry. I've retried over and over and still nothing. What would be the problem here. I am using windows xp and have plenty of space. |

It will sometimes go past that one and go up to 77% and then say it had a problem transferring the file 'TSData/Res/Sims3D/Objects00.package' "MysteriousWendi" wrote: > I am now having a different problem installing Sims 2. are you installing your sims in C: Drive? if so, you know what's scandisk/chkdsk? go start, run, type in CHKDSK /F press Y to the question to do a check after restart restart, let it scan your drive try reinstalling, if it persist, you might have a dirty cdrom drive and also check your cds for scratches or dirt "MysteriousWendi" <MysteriousWendi@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:392F8680-625D-4911-B629-58F7DAF0E631@microsoft.com... > I am now having a different problem installing Sims 2. I have one slot that is both a CD-RW and DVD. I have tried the chkdsk /f a few times and it doesn't show anything wrong. I am installing through the autoplay that automatically starts it and places it in c drive "Lee Chung Pak" wrote: > are you installing your sims in C: Drive? > if so, you know what's scandisk/chkdsk? > > go start, run, type in CHKDSK /F > press Y to the question to do a check after restart > > restart, let it scan your drive > > try reinstalling, if it persist, you might have a dirty cdrom drive and also > check your cds for scratches or dirt > > "MysteriousWendi" <MysteriousWendi@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in > message news:392F8680-625D-4911-B629-58F7DAF0E631@microsoft.com... > > I am now having a different problem installing Sims 2. There seems to be a problem with the file, might be corrupt. Have you tried my earlier suggestion (copying to hard drive and installing from there)? Thank you Lee. Finally got the download through going through safemode and kept pressing retry, and also quit download because it froze but did not uninstall, so it kept all files and finally got to disc 4. Now I can't seem to get it to run. I've never had so many problems installing a game and trying to play, it's rediculous! I have all the latest directx and it keeps saying that I don't. I have restarted my comp so many times, getting sick of this. Any knowhow on this? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! i also have problems when i installed my copy, i never known that even originals have this problems. i encountered problems with my disc 3, error with neighbourhood.package i think, after restarting the installation after a restart, reinstall, and it's worse, it encountered an error during disc 1 at 22% i borrowed a friend's copy and install. and i finally completed the dreadful installation. i also have 2 of the expansion packs. and again, i also get an error with disc 2 while installing university. ok, here's the suggestion from EA Games, worth a try.. like the suggestion by the previous guy. http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cfg...ted=1095204523 if you managed to install the game? give me a message, i got some websites on sims2 for you "Lee Chung Pak" <leechungpak@gmail.com> wrote in message news:OtvYnx6KGHA.3496@TK2MSFTNGP14.phx.gbl... > are you installing your sims in C: Drive? > if so, you know what's scandisk/chkdsk? > > go start, run, type in CHKDSK /F > press Y to the question to do a check after restart > > restart, let it scan your drive > > try reinstalling, if it persist, you might have a dirty cdrom drive and also > check your cds for scratches or dirt > > "MysteriousWendi" <MysteriousWendi@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in > message news:392F8680-625D-4911-B629-58F7DAF0E631@microsoft.com... > > I am now having a different problem installing Sims 2. If you had so many problems why dont you send the game back for replacement or refund. Just to inform you but when you say "downloading", it means downloading from the internet. When you are installing a game\program you should say "problem installing" not "problem downloading" it can lead to confusion. -- Please repost if you find the fault Glen P ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "MysteriousWendi" <MysteriousWendi@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:EA8891FE-D743-477A-A0CC-DC28EA47EB9A@microsoft.com... > Thank you Lee. I did finally send it back to amazon and they are sending a new one at no charge. I should get it tomorrow. Thank you for all the suggestions, hopefully I won't have as many problems. It just seems so strange that I can intall a game like myst V and have no problem and along come the Sims and everything goes haywire. Anyway, thank you again. Hopefully I won't have anymore problems.
