| XP PRO 64 and HALO Combat Evloved
it seems that when trying to start up my Halo Combat Evloved, the program is not able to access any of my RAM (i have 4 gb). I get an exception error that says "your system does not have enough ram to run the game, please close any additional programs that may be running..." and the machine info lists my processor speed, properly, my ram as 0mb, and my video card properly... Is my Halo Combat Evloved compatible with 64?, and why cant Halo access the memory? Thank you |

I don't know the answer. Many games are indeed refusing to run on a 64bit OS. This can usually be fixed with an extra *.DLL from the manufacturer. Zero RAM! Wow, normally we would ask for a memory test, but since your OS is running that is hardly the problem. My own personal favorite here, would be an installation gone wrong. I would probably un-install the program completely and re-boot several times. Then defrag the HD before installing the game once more - doing that I would probably also change the installation directory to something of my own creation. But first check with the games support and make sure it can run in your system. http://www.microsoft.com/games/halo/support.aspx (there might even be a forum at the end of this link?) Tony. . . And according to this list: http://www.cableforum.co.uk/board/10...lity-list.html The game should run fine on XP x64. The OP should make sure that he/she has all updates and patches applied also. It does work. I had and and played it on my system. Just a glitch with some of the older programs. You are right, of course, Carlos - but I still favor the misbehaved installation, but that, on the other hand, could quite naturally depend on patches or whatever - good advice! Tony. . . 4gb to 0 sounds like a 64/32 truncation issue to me... You should be able to force the app to see less RAM although I can't remember where the setting is off the top of my head.
