New Printer drivers in WIN7 build 7100 ????

Are there New Printer drivers in WIN7 build 7100 ???? Looking for ones for
my Kodak 5500 printer.
The ones in the beta don't work.

Actually the print drivers aren't built in. When you go to install a
printer Win 7 downloads the list for you to select from. There is a
Kodak 5500 AiO listed but since I don't have one there's no way for me
to try it.

Re: New Printer drivers in WIN7 build 7100 ????

The Kodak web site has a firmware update for this unit on their web site.
http://www.kodak.com/global/mul/serv...duct=EKN033541

There is also a Vista driver. I don't know if it will install on either
64 bit systems or on Windows 7. As for the latter, AFAIK, and there is
much I don't know, there has been no change in the driver model as
between Windows Vista and Windows 7, Vista 64 bit drivers should work on
7.

A bit OT, but did Kodak provide any in-box drivers to MS for Vista? There
are none on the Vista 64 DVD and I don't recall there being any on the 32
bit one either.

The Kodak Vista driver will not work on Win7. One of the rendering binaries
performs some OS version check and fails. Kodak driver developers are aware
of this issue.

When will developers learn to stop using that sort of version check code?

(no need to answer, it was a rhetorical question only. A sign of frustration
not aimed at you.)

Can the version check be fooled by a compatibility mode?

Re: New Printer drivers in WIN7 build 7100 ????

I do not think so since the binary runs in the spoolsv.exe or
printisolationhost.exe. The compatibility wizard says can't set
compatibility for this program.

You will need to wait for a solution from Kodak.
