Taskbar/desktop icons appear & disappear

This is Windows Vista 64bit os installed on my Acer laptop. Since last couple of weeks my taskbar and desktop icons disappears itself and reappears after few seconds. I thought the system is infected and hence I ran a complete system scan with updated Norton Antivirus. But it dint found anything malicious.

Later I tried removing all toolbars were installed but too dint worked. Finally I restored my system but still getting the same problem. I don’t have any more idea how it can be fixed. Do anyone of you guys know what is causing the problem and it can be fixed ?

Just for an idea, does your taskbar also disappears when the icons disappears ? if yes, than your explorer.exe is crashing up. So for instance, just open the task manager, locate explorer.exe and kill this process. Now click on File > new process and type explorer.exe. See if again your icons disappears.
