YOU NEED PERMISSION TO PERFORM THIS ACTION

I have been reading the other posts in regards to this problem and they are
way over my head, I just need to get rid of this problem - some things
delete just fine, others won't delete and won't move. This is just my home
computer, I'm not networked with any other computer. I put the items on the
computer I should be able to remove them!!!! Could someone please provide
me with a simple easy to understand solution? Thank you......

I'll second the motion for the recommendation for Shawn (Brink). He's
the resident authority on Vista. If you need additional help just ask.
I still don't understand why Mr. Gates has to
make things more difficult when he upgrades windows..... Thanks again....

I have had the same problem; every now and then a random file or folder will refuse to delete, move or rename, and I usually have to reboot my computer and everything's fine. I did try the site where you dl the "take ownership" file, but it doesn't seem to work! Any other suggestions on how to either stop or avoid this??

If you have the 32 bit Vista, you can try the free program "Unlocker"
to see if it can help you delete a stubborn file.

I'm sorry to say that I'm having the same problem. I've tried everything suggested in this page of the forum, but it just doesn't seem to work. I've downloaded the unlocker, tried to forcably take ownership, tried to manually take ownership, but it still insists that i need permission to delete the file.
