nmserial Error EventID=18

Ever since installing a PCI Serial/Parallel port card in my PC I have been
getting the following error in my EventLog 4-5 times a day:

Error: System
Source: nmserial
EventID: 18
Level: Error

Description for EventID 18 cannot be found. Either the component that raises
this is event is not installed or corrupt. Reinstall or Repair.

The drivers for this MosChip PCI serial card are from Microsoft and are
signed. Indeed they were actually installed by Vista from Windows Update. I
have tried uninstalling & reinstalling them, but this makes no difference.

So, please Microsoft - what does the error mean & how can I fix it?

Same for me!
MosChip PCI Card with 2 serial and one paralle Port logs the same error in
System Event log on boot.

RE: nmserial Error EventID=18

Dear all,

has anybody found a solution for this problem?

In my system the 'nmserial error' always appears at startup in the system log.
IO card: Exsys EX-41052 (2 serial) with MosChip MSC9835CV.
