Vista slow deleting, moving and copying files?

Hey guys, am using Windows Vista Ultimate on my desktop that is running with P4 3.2 Ghz processor and 2GB DDR dual-channel memory. I think that is enough to run Vista comfortably. Then why is my system get so slow while copying, moving or deleting files ? Can anyone tell me what could be the exact problem ? Also let me know some proper solution for the same. Thank you.

Well there can be many reasons for slowing down the PC but its not related to your config, system is fine to run vista. You must run some programs to analyze and fix the problem, such as:

    1. Defrag hard drive
    2. Run a registry cleaner
    3. Run a registry defragger
    4. Run disk cleanup
    5. Make sure you have the most current drivers (BIOS, video, sound, etc.)

This will help you to speed up your system.

Are you using McAfee on your system? If yes, that could be the problem because I have pretty bad experience with the same on my Vista. You must uninstall it right away. Other than this, Microsoft has launched a HotFix package for the same. You should download and run the same. This will help you.

Download the Hotfix from here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/931770/en-us

Thanks for the help and hotfix Jolie-Pitt. I read about that hotfix package saying “A supported hotfix is now available from Microsoft. However, it is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix may receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next service pack that contains this hotfix.”

But in my case the problem is while moving, copying or deleting files. I have tried this hot fix and many other troubleshooting but nothing seems to be helping.
