my fiance's laptop is a bit sluggish, and i've managed to find the
following 3 reg errors via registry mechanic(a trial version).

registry mechanic as it's a wee bit costly at the moment? many kind
thanks vista gurus!
3 reg errors, these are all indicated as "High Priority values missing
or invalid":

1.
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{300165D9-44B1-4C7A-AD58-4A9E7200E2E8}\LocalServer32

2. The second error is exactly the same as the first (see above error
#1.)

3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MicrosoftWindows\Databases\Windows

Don't fix them. Registry Mechanic, like any registry "cleaner" can often
misidentify needed entries and lead users to think they need to be changed
or removed. Do not do this. They often make problems even worse, sometimes
to the point where you have to do a complete reinstallation of the operating
system to a clean folder, losing all your personal settings, installed
software, and possibly your data in the process.

Why do you think you need to "fix" the registry? What actual problem are you
having?

A sluggish machine is often the result of either unnecessary items in the
startup axis or spyware. None of the registry keys you've indicated have
anything to do with that.

What makes you think the registry is the problem? Have you checked the
hard drive, virus checked and defragged. Is your memory ok? Is it slow
only on the Internet?

Lots that could be amiss.

If you don't know what those keys are for in the Registry then it's
best to leave them alone.

Hello R1k1n,

I would recommend that you avoid registry cleaners. They can do more
damage than good if blindly allowed to delete (fix) what it finds wrong.
If you really want to, then the "free Wise Registry Cleaner" is a good
one to use. Just be sure to double check the results before just letting
it delete them.

You might try the items listed in the tutorial below to help improve
the computer's performance.

Simple test run by one of the MVPs: (don't remember the name or where to
find the results)

Clean install of Vista (No other software installed, no updates, etc.)
Install a registry cleaner and search for errors.
Some registry cleaners reported in excess of 1600 errors found.

Smells like trouble.

Re: Registry errors, please help! Argh!!

Listen to the man, registry cleaners are pretty much worthless. Case in
point, most registry cleaners will mark keys or entries for deletion like
%windir%/system32 because they don't handle variables in the pathname.
Pathnames have to be exact because registry cleaners aren't smart enough to
distinguish variables pathnames. They also mark entries to delete if you
use command switches or any prefixes or suffixes.

If you actually go through all the stuff registry cleaners mark for deletion
you will find a lot that need to be marked ignore, so don't waste your money
on those things.
