Help! Windows Explorer Keeps Crashing.

Having huge problem with Windows Vista since past couple of months. My windows explorer keeps on crashing every now and then. Here is the log of the error:

Not just that much, Windows update as well is not working. Though I have set it to update the system Automatically it wont do. And when I try doing it manually, it fails with the following error:

I have experienced exactly the same issue earlier and fortunately was able to fix it after doing lots of research. I actually did a Vista upgrade using the installation Disk. And it worked. If you want you can try out this but make sure you take the complete backup of your data for security though this process will not erase any of your file or folder. If you willing to do this, here we go:

• Put your installation Cd in the drive, restart the computer, select boot from CD.
• Once you get the setup window, select UPGRADE, follow the onscreen instruction and leave the PC for about an hour to complete the installation.
• Once it is done, you will need to answer few questions and later you will get few options where you need to choose “Recommended Option”
• Once done, go to windows update and download/install the important 84 updates that usually get deleted during this process.

Now restart the computer to install the updates and everything will be fixed. This worked for me.
