Event ID 10- Event Filter Query Functionality

Hello, I'm hoping someone can help me troubleshoot this annoying issue. My
computer randomly shuts off without warning and the problem is not due to
overheating. Using the event viewer, I've noticed that the random shut-off
is always preceded by event ID 10 (see detailed info about what this means
here: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...cc727148.aspx). I have
tried the fix recommended by Microsoft here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/KB950375
This does not work. When I try to run the script a box pops up that says:
instance of CommandLineEventConsumer
{
CommandLineTemplate = "cscript KernCap.vbs";
CreatorSID = {1, 5, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 5, 21, 0, 0, 0, 36, 249, 72,
53, 131, 124, 112, 138, 182, 184, 76, 194, 244, 1, 0, 0};
Name = "BVTConsumer";
RunInteractively = FALSE;
WorkingDirectory = "C:\\\\tools\\\\kernrate";
};

I push okay and get another box that says "Access denied Code: 80041003
Source: SWbemObjectEx".

I have no idea what any of this means or if there is a way around it.
Another piece of info that might help is that the shut downs happen more
frequently when I'm playing video games which makes me think this may somehow
also be related to my graphics card (ATI Radeon X1270 which the Radeon
website seems to deny even exists....). Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you!

Another note: the first link I posted recommends a fix using CIM Studio but
this is not compatible with Vista. Is there something similar that is?
Thanks!
