Installing software for HP Scanjet 6300c on Vista Home Premium

Hey guys, need some urgent help from you all. Am using windows Vista Home Premium SP1. I also have a HP Scanjet 6300c that am using since last 2 years on Windows XP. Now want to install this on Vista but the scanner is not able to initialize.

Whenever I try installing HP Scanjet 6300c drivers or its software, installation gets failed. Somebody please help me installing the same and making this scanner work with Vista. Thank you for all your helps.

As far as I know HP Scanjet 6300c is quit old printer and for making it work on Vista, you will need Vista compatible drivers and softwares for the same. And as per my searches, I don’t think HP has released any drivers for Vista yet. What you can do is just contact HP and see if they are working to make it for Vista. If not., there is no other way you can install it with the new OS.

Thanks a lot for the info buddy. I contacted with HP and they send me the link for the Scanjet 6300c product page. As you and they also said, the drivers are only available till Windows XP. They haven’t updated it for Vista, neither they are going to that. So the only option left for me is to use this on XP and buy a new one for Vista. Your helps appreciated.

If you want it to use on Vista or in case you have just one pc thatis upgraded to windows Vista, than you can install Virtual PC with Windows XP and connect your scanner/printer on the same. It will work.
