How do I enable DHCP on my network adapter?

I am using windows Vista and Windows XP connected with a single network. When I check my Network Adapter in Vista, it says DHCP is not enabled. And i think it is necessry to enable for ICS to/with a windows XP Pro computer, right?. I don’t know how to enable it hence need help from you all guys for the same.

Second problem is my Windows XP desktop is not able to configure the network settings automatically. Can you please tell me what could be wrong? Many thanks.

There is a condition for enabling DHCP. You can either use DHCP or Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) only. Not both of them together. So, as you are using ICS, your DHCP option would be grayed out already. What you can do is set up static IP addresses for each computer.

Well the best thing that fits in your situation is buy a new router that comes with built-in DHCP server.
