Re: Vista incorrectly sees "Multiple Networks" & can't connect to Inte

I have had this issue and found it is a route table issue. See other
thread.

'Ethernet Multiple Networks detected, Local access only, Only one
exists - Vista Forums'

Although this can be caused by some other issues like the NIC power
management, or IPV6.

Re: Vista incorrectly sees "Multiple Networks" & can't connect to Inte

Oh for Noobs.

Open a command prompt. Start, type cmd.exe.
In command prompt, just type route delete 0.0.0.0, hit enter.
If it works, it says OK!.
Reboot.

To turn off IPV6, power management.
Right click Computer. Manage. Device Manager. Network Adapter. Right
click your adapter. Properties.

Unselect any wake on lan in advanced tab, and power management tab.

Go to Control Panel, Network connections, right click a Network
adapter, properties.
Unselect IPV6.
Do this for both wireless and ethernet adapters or issues can result.

Re: Vista incorrectly sees "Multiple Networks" & can't connect to Inte

Having trouble connecting through my wireless network. A friend tried
to setup my Xbox through my laptop connection but only managed to
somehow disable it. System says there is an IP conflict with another
device on the network but my laptop is the only one on it. Any help
would be great.... here is the IPCONFIG/ALL read out

Re: Vista incorrectly sees "Multiple Networks" & can't connect to Inte

Hi

The conflict is here "IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . :
192.168.0.1(Duplicate)"
Check the following, go to Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center>
Manage network connection.
Right click on connection and choose properties. In the list look for
"Internet protocol version 4 (TCP/IPv4)" Click on it then click properties.
box opens. In the general tab make sure "Obtain an IP address automatically"
is selected also do this for "Obtain DSN server address automatically"

Re: Vista incorrectly sees "Multiple Networks" & can't connect to Inte

The other thing which may be causing conflict is that your computer is
using the new IPv6 as well. If your router or acces point is not set up
for IPv6 this can cause conflicts with Vista and wireless as this is a
relativly new protocol. However the default is for it to be on.

to disable IPv6:

Control Panel, Network and Sharing Center, Manage Network Connections,
right click Wireless or LAN whichever you use, deslect the IPv6 box.

Re: Vista incorrectly sees "Multiple Networks" & can't connect to Inte

Note the following from ipconfig "...Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . :
169.254.43.78(Preferred)
....IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1(Duplicate)...".

192.168.0.1 is a legitimate address for networking and usually assigned via
DHCP (Usually a router) or manually.

Address 169.254.43.78 is assigned by Windows when an address is not received
via DHCP (or manually assigned) it allows connections within a local network
but none outside the local network (Internet).

Check and verify your TCP/IP properties regarding auto IP assignment and
"Alternate Configutation".
