    Ad-hoc not working anymore

I have a desktop and a laptop computer and on both I am running Windows Vista. The desktop computer has wired connection without a router or a modem and it has a Wlan usb card. The laptop is suppose to connect to the desktop pc via Wlan and get internet via there. This was not working since I got the laptop some years back. When I had a Macbook then it worked properly. But when I had a XP laptop then it used to work but then it dropped the connection sometimes. But now with the Vista laptop I am not able to connect to the desktop pc properly. Check the below ipconfig /all for both the machines when they are connected to each other:

    RE: Ad-hoc not working anymore

It might be that Windows Vista is not able to obtain an IP address from certain routers or from certain non-Microsoft DHCP servers. So, to fix this problem automatically, click the Fix it button or link. Click Run in the File Download dialog box, and then follow the steps in the Fix it wizard here - http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9708108

    Re: Ad-hoc not working anymore

Can you try to setup the connections seperately with specified IP's for you ad-hoc and then uncheck the allow internet sharing ICS. After that try to bridge your modem and wireless and then take all the specified IP's off, so they are all auto now, and see if that works. I think that ICS might be the problem here.
