Multiple Tunnel Adapters in Vista

I have installed Windows Vista on my computer and recently came to know that I have many Tunnel adapter Local Area Connection. Among most of them, I can see the Media State as "Media Disconnected", but some of them are different for example - Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface and Microsoft ISATAP Adapter #5 with different IPv6 addresses. Is there anyone who can tell me what is all this things? Thank you

The Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface, Microsoft ISATAP, are normally used for IPv6 and needed by operating system. And the other adapters are used internally by Vista's kernel for network support. They dont post a security risk when your machine is running the latest windows update. I have also got 8 device adapter in my computer and even if they are showing up in the network and sharing center then it will be not a big concern.

Thanks for the explanation and to say further these connections dont show up in my Network & Sharing Center, and also I used to keep my computers up-to-date, at the time of critical and important windows updates and firewall updates.

You can try to remove the isatap connections by following the below simple method:

1. First of all click on the start menu and then right click on My Computer
2. Afetr that click Manage (trips UAC) and then click on Device Manager
3. Now you have to click View > Show Hidden Devices
4. After that click Network Adapters and delete Network Adapters whatever you want, but the important ones like ones associated with your NIC and WLAN card, dont delete them.
