| The page failed to load - Network and Sharing Center
Goto Control Panel / Network and Sharing Center. Page is blank except for "The page failed to load" right in the middle. LAN continues to somewhat function, but wireless is no longer functioning. Network notification icon on task bar is disabled. I have no idea when this stopped functioning, but sometime in the last week. |

| Re: The page failed to load - Network and Sharing Center
I have finally figured this one out after months and months of having this issue. I have a Dell XPS M1710 so your mileage may vary. One day in August, I no longer saw the network icon on the task tray. If I went to the Network and Sharing Center, I got a blank page with the "The page failed to load" error on it. It didn't matter to me much as I used the WiFi more then anything and the Connect To window still worked as did my WiFi card. Fast forward to today. I finally got tired of searching the Internet for a solution and not getting a real answer. So I ran sfc /SCANNOW on my system. In reading 'How to analyze the log file entries that the Microsoft Windows Resource Checker (SFC.exe) program generates in Windows Vista' (http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;928228) I found that it encountered an error on a particular file. 2008-01-16 10:49:05, Info XXX 000000dc [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:18{9}]"QUTIL.DLL" of Microsoft-Windows-NetworkAccessProtection-Common, Version = 6.0.6000.16386, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_INTEL (0), Culture neutral, VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral in the store, hash mismatch So I followed the 'Some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows Vista may stop responding' (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833) on the QUTIL.DLL file that the error indicated. My laptop has a Recovery partition on the hard drive that happened to contain the QUTIL.DLL file, so using the above KB entry, I copied the file over to my Windows installation and rebooted. When the system came back up, I had a network icon on my task tray. When I opened up the Network and Sharing Center, I now see the correct information. I hope this information helps everyone that is experiencing this issue. |

Hi, and I'm sorry to bump this thread but I face a similar problem at the moment and QUTIL.dll does not seem to be the issue. I downloaded a non-corrupted one anyway and it didn't do anything. I ran sfc /SCANNOW twice and it repaired stuff but not everything. I tried running my recovery disc but it didn't help me with this. And the System Recovery utility was turned off for some reason. After I turned it on, I found no restoration points to go back to. Eventually I will just give up and format, but I'd like to get it fixed instead. My wireless works at networks already saved but it won't find new networks wherever I go to. I'm looking forward for a good tip on how to solve this. Thank you! |

| Re: The page failed to load - Network and Sharing Center
anyone find the silver bullet to this issue? I've tried all of the proposed remedies but I can't get this problem fixed. Do I need to buy a new WLAN card or reload Vista? I'm on a Dell M1330 with Vista Home Premium and I know my wireless LAN is up because my wife's laptop is not haveing issues connecting at all and all systems are fine on her laptop to include the network center and she is running the Vista Home Premium as well. HELP!! |

| Re: The page failed to load - Network and Sharing Center
Got IPv6 unchecked from broadband connection but can't open the wireless connection to do the same there. I have been putting off Vista updates for a bit because one of them really messes up my laptop but I dont know which one. I'm trying on your advice but I may need to restore if it does this time. Why not use DHCP? Could it be that my WLAN card has gone bad? As well? |

It is good that you are following the advices that was given above in addition to the things that were mentioned above please make a quick check for the part of the update that is making the mess in your case. You will really need to have the updates installed so that the issue can be overcome. Well if something goes wrong then you can have the System Restored as you have mentioned. I do not think that you need to have the DHCP enabled since it is used when you are trying to manage the large network and that is the reason why JAMES might have asked you to select this option. Regarding the WLAN card; it will be nice if you can have a check on it as well. The issue that you are having can be because of that as well. You must have come up with the same in your first post. Follow the rest of the instructions and see if the issue gets solved. |
