Vista / VPN / Wireless Connection Drops

Hi,

Has anyone experienced the below problem and more importantly found a
fix for it!

I am runnng Vista Ultimate on a Toshibia Laptop with Intel 3945ABG
wireless, connecting to the internet via a Linksys router.

Normal wireless internet access works fine with no problems
whatsoever.
But when i connect to my VPN is shows as connected to the remote
server, but I cannot access the Internet or any resources on the
server.

This only happens when i use the wireless connection. If i connect up
via a ethernet cable to the router then everything works fine.

Can anyone help?

Hi Harry, can you give us the result of the following commands for your VPN
connection for both via wireless and ethernet?
- ipconfig /all
- route print

Hi,

Here's the results of the ipconfig /all.
4 Different results. (Seperated by the stars)
- Wireless wihtout VPN
- Wired without VPN
- Wired with VPN
- Wireless with VPN (Problem one!)

No joy i'm afraid!
I dont have any options for 'Default Gateway' as i am using the download
from Small Business Server 2003 VPN and it doesnt give those options!

Any other ideas anyone?

Default Gateway is a client side setting - Go to your VPN Connection
Properties ->Networking -> Select Internet Protocol Version 4 and click
Properties -> Advanced -> Uncheck 'Use default gateway' option.

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately my VPN conneciton has no options as such.
I use the Connection Manager option to download a file from the remote Small
Business Server 2003 remote workplace.
This places an icon for 'Connect to Small Business Server' in my netowrk
connections but there are no propoerties for it apart from 'Redial Attempts'
and 'ICS'.

Any other suggestions?

Any idea why this works when i am connected via ethernet but not when i am
wirelessly connected?

Hi,
Its a known issue, please try to update the Intel 3945 wrls card drivers from your computer's manufacture website. If you have already done then boot to Safe mode with networking and try, if that works then contact your admin at office to configure the firewall.
